Iannis Xenakis at Persepolis

Xenakis révolution, le bâtisseur du son

Xenakis was the first European composer to use a computer to create music. With UPIC, he invented the first graphic synthesizer in an effort to make composition accessible to all. Driven by his revolutionary and humanistic ideas, Xenakis broke down the boundaries between art and science, laying the groundwork for futuristic, multimedia and transdisciplinary creations.

Inside the mind of Iannis Xenakis

Xenakis drew on his own history and the world around him as raw material for his sonic, musical and architectural works.

My task was to give shape to his perception of reality. Like a layered sonic illusion, I brought an artistic, mysterious grain to the film's soundtrack — excerpts from Xenakis's own compositions closing each of these introspective sequences.
