Aniccam
Aniccam is a narrative short set in the Cambodian countryside. The story follows an ivory smuggler, a crooked policeman, and Narith, a young construction worker running away into the night with a mysterious suitcase, coveted by everyone who sees it. Inspired by the rapid transformation of Sihanoukville — a fishing village turned into South-East Asia's next Macao through Chinese investment — Aniccam, Khmer for 'impermanence', straddles the tension between cultural alienation and belonging.
Borrowed soundscapes
My work was to create soundscapes that borrow from the sounds of Cambodia, built from recordings made with traditional Khmer instruments. And yet these soundscapes take us far away, elsewhere.
The general intention: escape.
